Why It Matters

This photo goes in front of program directors.

Here's the part a lot of applicants miss. Your ERAS photo is not a formality. It's the first visual element a program sees when a coordinator or committee member opens your application during screening, so it is doing work for you or against you before you say a single word.

You want your headshot to read the way you want to come across in the room. Competent, approachable, and like a physician a program would actually want to work with for the next few years. That's something a strong professional headshot photo communicates, and a rushed phone snap in a stairwell doesn't. And don't even think about using an AI headshot!

Most people treat this part like a box to check. But treating this like it matters is your edge at a stage where every edge counts.

Pre-Med? Read This

Applying to medical school? I've got you too.

AMCAS doesn't require a photo, but plenty of secondary applications ask for one, and a strong, professional photo helps you show up as a serious applicant. Same session, same coaching, delivered in whatever format the school asks for.

If you're a pre-med putting your application together, this works for you exactly the same way.

A Note on Timing

Book ahead of the rush.

ERAS applications go out to programs in late September, which makes June and July the busy stretch as everyone gets their photo done beforehand. Book ahead and this is a calm thirty minutes on your calendar instead of a scramble the week you submit.

FAQ

What applicants ask me.

Yes. I shoot and prepare your photo to the current ERAS specifications, so it displays correctly for reviewers and won't get flagged in the system. Meeting the requirements is on me, not you.
Most applicants go business professional, and some prefer the white coat depending on their specialty and programs. You don't have to decide in advance. Bring both and we shoot both in one session, then you pick.
Standard delivery is two business days. If you're tight against an application deadline, tell me when you book and we'll work out the timing so you're not left waiting.
Yes. The same session works for AMCAS and secondary application photos.
Bring a well-fitted suit or blazer in a solid, darker tone, and a pressed white coat if you want that option. Keep patterns simple so nothing competes with your face. We'll narrow it down together at the start of the session.
